Post-Ramadan Gathering: Dharma Wanita of UGM Faculty of Dentistry Holds Syawalan Event

The Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), held a Syawalan gathering to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1446 H on Friday, 11 April 2025. The event took place on the FKG UGM campus and was attended by lecturers, administrative staff, and members of the Faculty’s Dharma Wanita group.

Carrying the theme  “Strengthening Faith and Piety after Ramadan,”  the gathering served as a moment to strengthen bonds among members and reflect spiritually following the holy month. The event featured welcoming remarks, a religious sermon (tausiyah), and a meaningful Syawalan pledge.

In her opening remarks, the Chair of DWP FKG UGM, Mrs. Haswintarti Suryono, expressed her hope that the Syawalan moment would inspire all members to continue improving themselves and fostering unity. "May we become better individuals. I hope our togetherness in DWP will continue to grow stronger. Please accept my sincere apologies," she said.

Delivering the tausiyah, Ustadzah Asri Widiarti, S.Si., emphasized that the goodness cultivated during Ramadan should become a provision for the months ahead. "Indeed, we are called to be obedient not only during Ramadan. We are also expected to control our anger and offer forgiveness to others," she explained.

She further added that Ramadan is not only about refraining from hunger and thirst, but also a spiritual training to improve oneself holistically. "God has granted us extraordinary ease and blessings during Ramadan, from the spirit to worship and give charity, to the ability to guard our speech. Now is the time to prove that we can maintain those values in our daily lives," she continued. According to her, the virtues developed during Ramadan will be a guiding light for those who sincerely strive to remain consistent in doing good.

One of the participants, Shinta, a new staff member at FKG UGM, also shared her experience. "I’m a new employee, and I feel happy to be part of this community. I feel included, and there’s no gap among members. Everyone is welcoming and supportive—it’s such a warm atmosphere," she shared.

The event concluded with the reading of the Syawalan pledge by Mrs. Rya Mardikawati, S.E., M.Acc., followed by a handshake session among attendees. Through events like this, DWP FKG UGM continues to play a vital role in fostering spiritual development and social solidarity among its members.
