Dental Study Program

Academic Phase

According to Indonesian national regulations, the dentistry study program at The Faculty of Dentistry UGM organizes education into two phases: academic  (Bachelor of Dental Medicine) and professional (Dentist Profession Education (DPE)) phases. Bachelor of dental medicine (B.Dent) facilitates education in the academic phase. It is also an integral part and mandatory requirement for the DPE.  It takes 8 semesters (4 years) to complete a B.Dent degree, but in some cases it is possible to graduate after completing 7 semesters. The minimum credit for the B.Dent level is 152 (150 credits for compulsory courses and minimum 2 credits for electives). There are several methods for delivering courses e.g Interactive lectures, laboratory practices, pre-clinical skills lab, case-based discussions, and team-based projects. The B.Dent curriculum is designed based on The Indonesian Dentist Standard Competencies (Standar Kompetensi Dokter Gigi Indonesia (SKDGI).
