UGM Faculty of Dentistry’s Conservative Dentistry Specialist Program Undergoes LAM-PTKes Accreditation Assessment

The Conservative Dentistry Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), underwent an onsite accreditation assessment by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) on 21–22 April 2025. This assessment is part of a re-accreditation process to maintain its “Excellent” Accreditation status, which is set to expire in December 2025.

Two assessors were appointed for this assessment: Prof. drg. H. Moh. Dharma Utama, Ph.D., Sp.Pros., SubSp., PKIKG (K) from Hasanuddin University, and Drg. Sri Angky Soekanto, Ph.D., FISID, PBO., FICD, CMC. from Universitas Indonesia. They conducted a thorough evaluation of documents, facilities, and also held interviews with alumni, lecturers, administrative staff, and other stakeholders of the program.

“Based on the submitted documents, around 80 percent of the data is already reflected. The remaining 20 percent is being verified directly on-site,” said Drg. Sri Angky. She emphasized that this assessment aims to capture the real condition of specialist education in conservative dentistry at FKG UGM.

Head of the Study Program, Dr. drg. Tunjung Nugraheni, M.Kes., Sp.KG.(K), explained in her presentation that the program envisions itself as a leading center for conservative dentistry education that optimizes dental function supported by the latest technologies and materials.

Meanwhile, Prof. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, M.B.A., Ph.D., Head of UGM’s Internal Quality Assurance Unit (SPMRU), stated that accreditation plays a strategic role in quality improvement. “Accreditation is not only about recognition, but also about receiving valuable feedback. The input from assessors becomes the basis for future improvements,” he said. He also shared that UGM currently offers 293 active study programs at various levels, all of which are closely monitored for academic quality.

This onsite assessment is expected to generate recommendations that will strengthen governance, learning outcomes, and the competitiveness of FKG UGM's Conservative Dentistry Specialist graduates in facing global challenges in dental education.
