At the National Symposium of the Indonesian Association of Dental Radiology (IKARGI), FKG UGM achieved first place in the short lecture category with a case report. The event took place at the Aston Kartika Hotel in Jakarta on 12 July 2024.
This impressive achievement was earned by drg. Silviana Farrah Diba, Sp.RKG(K), a member of the Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology. Her case report presented a novel topic in dental radiology. She showcased an anatomical variation of the styloid process , discovered incidentally during the interpretation of panoramic radiographs. The styloid process is a bony projection located at the base of the skull.
“This anatomical variation is quite rare, which motivated us to present it as a case report and disseminate this knowledge,” said Farrah.
The IKARGI 2024 National Symposium is an annual event attended by dental professionals, especially those specializing in dental radiology. It serves as a platform for experts to enhance their knowledge and experience. Additionally, the symposium is a competitive venue for dental radiology specialists from various universities in Indonesia.
drg. Ryna Dwi Yanuaryska, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology at FKG UGM, expressed pride in this accomplishment. “This achievement demonstrates that the quality of female lecturers should not be underestimated. We hope this success will inspire both students and faculty to actively innovate and contribute to the advancement of science,” said Ryna.
