The 11th National Symposium of the Indonesian Dental Radiology Association (IKARGI) was held at the Aston Kartika Hotel, Jakarta, on 12 July 2024. This annual event provides a platform for dentists, particularly IKARGI members, to share knowledge and experiences in dental radiology. With the theme “Exploring Creativity Through Enhanced Imaging Technology in Continuing Education and Research”, this symposium featured experts discussing the latest advancements in radiology technology and its application in dental practice.
Four female lecturers from the Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) attended the event. Drg. Ryna Dwi Yanuaryska, Ph.D., Chair of the Department, stated that FKG UGM's participation aimed to update knowledge and build networks. “We are committed to staying abreast of developments in dental radiology,” said Ryna.
The IKARGI XI symposium included several activities, such as seminars, poster presentations, and workshops. One notable session was the workshop on evaluating dental radiology education. During this workshop, participants discussed the results of the Dental Profession Student Competency Exam (UKMP2DG) to identify areas for improvement in the radiology curriculum. The evaluation outcomes are expected to serve as a reference for developing a more relevant and effective curriculum.
The IKARGI XI National Symposium not only served as a scientific meeting but also as a venue for strengthening collaboration among peers in dental radiology. “We hope this meeting will foster new innovations and research that contribute to the advancement of dental science in Indonesia,” Ryna added.
