FKG UGM Participates in Social Service Event for the 40th Anniversary of UGM Geological Engineering Class of 1983

On 13 August 2023, this community service activity was successfully organized through the collaboration of the Yogyakarta Branch of the Prosthodontic Association (IPROSI), the Prosthodontics Program of FKG UGM, the Alumni Family of Dentistry FKG UGM (KAKGIGAMA), the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) Klaten Branch, Klaten Islamic General Hospital, and the Alumni of UGM Geological Engineering Class of 1983 (Geo83).

The main target of this Community Service activity is the residents of Klaten Regency who have lost teeth and require dentures, as well as those who have lost an eye or nose. The theme of the Community Service activity is "Creating Removable Partial Dentures and Maxillofacial Prostheses for the People of Klaten."

The series of community service events includes preliminary activities such as counseling, screening, and pre-prosthodontic treatment for edentulous patients conducted by members of the Klaten PDGI at various healthcare facilities (Puskesmas, private practices, dental clinics) in Klaten Regency. This is followed by the main activity, which involves the fabrication of partial dentures made from acrylic resin and maxillofacial prosthetics, carried out by members of IPROSI Yogyakarta and students from the Prosthodontics PPDGS at FKG UGM, with the activities taking place at Klaten Islamic General Hospital.

The program, which began on 13 August 2023, and will culminate on 24 September 2023, has attracted approximately 60 patients, including those with missing teeth, eyes, and noses. This initiative aims to increase public knowledge and awareness about oral health in Klaten Regency, involving the community and dental health practitioners in actively participating in efforts to improve sustainable oral health. The program offers free partial dentures made of acrylic resin to those in need and provides free eye and nose prosthetics to residents of Klaten Regency. It is hoped that this activity will benefit and contribute to the health of the community, particularly in Klaten Regency.
