A warm atmosphere filled the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), on Tuesday (2/6) through the Dahar Kembul gathering. Held after the Eid al-Adha celebration, the event brought together lecturers, educational staff, students, and members of the faculty community in a shared atmosphere of togetherness.
For FKG UGM, Dahar Kembul has become an annual tradition held after Eid al-Adha. The tradition was initiated in 2023 as part of efforts to maintain social connections and strengthen relationships among faculty members amid various academic activities and daily work responsibilities.
The event coordinator, drg. Andi Muhammad Fuad Ansar, Sp.KGA, explained that Dahar Kembul was created from the desire to provide a space for togetherness that could be enjoyed by the entire academic community. The Eid al-Adha momentum was considered an appropriate time to strengthen relationships through a simple activity with strong social meaning.
“Dahar Kembul was initiated in 2023 and has been held every year after Eid al-Adha. The purpose is to build togetherness among the academic community, make Eid al-Adha a moment of celebration for everyone, and provide a platform for strengthening social relationships,” he said.
According to Fuad, the spirit behind this activity aligns with the values embodied in Eid al-Adha, namely sharing, caring, and togetherness. Through a relaxed gathering, faculty members have the opportunity to interact with one another beyond their daily work and academic routines.
This year’s event committee prepared approximately 250 portions of food made from donated beef and goat meat from the Eid al-Adha sacrifices. The dishes were enjoyed together by members of the faculty community as part of the Eid al-Adha celebration at FKG UGM.
The Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., expressed appreciation to the donors who participated and contributed their resources for the Eid al-Adha sacrifice activities at FKG UGM. According to him, the contributions from these participants allowed the benefits of Eid al-Adha to be experienced more widely by the faculty community.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the donors who contributed their resources for purchasing the sacrificial animals slaughtered at FKG UGM,” he said.
He hoped that the spirit of togetherness built through this activity would continue to be maintained. Through these gatherings and shared experiences, members of the faculty community are expected to feel happiness and strengthen the sense of family that has become an important part of campus life.
Over time, Dahar Kembul has developed beyond being merely an annual gathering after Eid al-Adha. It has become a space that strengthens relationships among members of the FKG UGM community. The tradition, which has continued for the past three years, is expected to grow further and become an integral part of the culture of togetherness within the faculty.
