The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), has become one of the first institutions to undergo a pilot qualitative accreditation assessment conducted by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) for the Doctor of Dental Science program. The assessment took place on 23–24 September 2025.
Two assessors were present on-site during the process, namely Prof. Dr. drg. Eha Renwi Astuti, M.Kes., Sp.RKG., Subsp.R.D.P(K) and Prof. Dr. drg. Hendra Dian Adhita Dharsono, Sp.KG., Subsp.KE(K). They evaluated key aspects such as academic quality, research processes, community service, and the adequacy of facilities for students and faculty members.
The Vice Dean of FKG UGM, drg. Margareta Rinastiti, M.Kes., Sp.KG. Subsp.KR(K)., Ph.D., who officially opened the event, stated that this assessment represents an important moment for the faculty to ensure that educational quality remains at the highest level."This is not merely an evaluation, but also an opportunity to learn together using the new accreditation system. We aim to continuously strengthen the quality of research, learning, and community contribution," she remarked.
The new accreditation instrument emphasizes a qualitative approach through eight assessment standards, allowing the evaluation process to be conducted more in-depth through dialogue, document review, and field observation.

On this occasion, FKG UGM also presented several achievements, including:
- Nearly all study programs holding Excellent Accreditation status
- International ASIIN recognition until 2030 for several programs
- International-standard research facilities, including 3D bioprinter technology
- National-scale dental health community service programs reaching remote areas
- Student achievements at national and international levels
Prof. Eha stated that the revision of the accreditation instrument is a strategic step toward improving the quality of health education in Indonesia. “The new instrument demands a more reflective and collaborative process. We appreciate FKG UGM’s preparedness,” she noted.
The activity concluded with presentations on the doctoral curriculum, innovative research mentoring systems for students, and strategies for international publication. This pilot assessment is expected not only to strengthen FKG UGM’s academic quality but also to serve as a model for the implementation of the new accreditation standards for health programs across Indonesia.
