The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), held a Parent Meeting for New Undergraduate Students on Monday, 4 August 2025. This annual routine activity serves as a forum for faculty leaders to meet with parents and provide an overview of the academic and learning processes at FKG UGM.
In his welcoming remarks, the Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., congratulated parents on their children’s success in being admitted as new students at FKG UGM. “We share your happiness and extend our congratulations on your sons and daughters being accepted as students at FKG UGM,” he stated.
On this occasion, the faculty leadership also invited parents to join a faculty tour to directly observe the facilities and infrastructure available at FKG UGM. According to Suryono, this is important so that parents are aware of the facilities used by students to support the learning process.
Furthermore, Suryono emphasised that FKG UGM remains committed to providing the best educational services. This commitment is reflected in the 2025 World’s Universities Ranking for Innovations (WURI), where FKG UGM was recognised in three categories: 8th place in Industrial Applications, 25th place in Culture/Values, and 29th place in Technology Development and Applications.

During the event, FKG UGM, in collaboration with Klinik Dentes, also awarded educational scholarships worth IDR 36 million to three underprivileged students. These scholarships are expected to ease the financial burden of education and serve as motivation for students in pursuing their studies. This initiative also demonstrates FKG UGM’s commitment to partnering with stakeholders to provide inclusive education for all.
At the end of the event, FKG UGM alumnus, drg. Handoko, initiated a fundraising campaign for the construction of a canopy along the access road from the parking area to the faculty building. “We will soon be entering the rainy season, so this facility is expected to be beneficial for the entire academic community, especially students,” Handoko said.
The voluntary fundraising received an enthusiastic response from parents. Within 15 minutes, a total of IDR 100 million was collected to support the construction of the facility. The canopy construction is planned to take place in September 2025.
