Residents of the Conservative Dentistry Study Program, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), successfully participated in the Skill Labs held at the Dental Learning Center, 3rd Floor, on Monday, 18 November 2024. This event provided an opportunity for the 2023 cohort residents to learn the direct veneer technique in anterior tooth restoration, guided by Drg. Pribadi Santoso, M.S., Sp.KG.(K).
Direct veneer is an aesthetic restoration technique that utilizes composite materials to enhance the appearance of teeth. During this session, Drg. Pribadi Santoso provided in-depth insights into the step-by-step process of creating direct veneers, from making a mock-up to plan the shape and aesthetics of the veneer to the final restoration stage. The mock-up serves as a visual guide to ensure the desired shape and aesthetics while facilitating tooth shape adjustments before veneer application.
Residents also had the opportunity to practice this technique under strict supervision from Drg. Pribadi Santoso, who provided valuable tips and tricks to achieve optimal aesthetic and functional restoration results. This event aimed to enhance the residents' practical skills in applying the direct veneer technique and provide new insights into the appropriate approach for composite-based aesthetic dental restorations.
Through this training, residents are expected to master the direct veneer technique effectively and be prepared to implement it in their clinical practice, offering more aesthetic and functional anterior tooth care in the future.
This activity also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by improving the quality of aesthetic dental care and oral health, and Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing education and practicum to residents to enhance their professional skills in dentistry.
