Orthodontic Residents of FKG UGM Pass Competency Exam with Outstanding Scores at FKG UNPAD

Bandung, 19 December 2024 — Three orthodontic residents from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) successfully passed the Specialist Orthodontic Dentist Competency Exam with outstanding scores. The exam, held at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Padjadjaran (FKG UNPAD), was attended by residents from leading universities across Indonesia.

The three FKG UGM residents who took the exam were drg. Raymund Octavius, Sp.Ort, drg. Luqman Alfarizi Pratama, Sp.Ort, and drg. Endiyanto, Sp.Ort. Their impressive results were achieved through dedication and expertise in orthodontics.

This competency exam is a crucial part of orthodontic specialist education, evaluating participants in various areas, including clinical case presentations, diagnosis, treatment planning, achieved results, orthodontic theory, and case analysis. The assessments were conducted by orthodontic experts from multiple institutions, ensuring an objective evaluation of the participants' skills.

Beyond being a benchmark for competency, the exam also serves as a platform for knowledge-sharing and experience exchange among residents from various universities. In addition to FKG UGM, participants also came from Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS) and Universitas Indonesia (UI).

The success of drg. Raymund, drg. Luqman, and drg. Endiyanto reflects the high-quality education at FKG UGM and their commitment to mastering orthodontics. With this achievement, they are now ready to continue their careers as competent and professional orthodontic specialists.

This initiative is also expected to enhance collaboration and knowledge exchange among dental education institutions in Indonesia. Additionally, their achievement contributes to the development of orthodontic science, which is expected to have a positive impact on improving public oral health.

The competency exam aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by improving dental healthcare; SDG 4: Quality Education through high-standard specialist training; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by advancing orthodontic research and practice; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration among institutions.
