Dr. Simonne Salazar Ferraris discussed the importance of both objective and subjective evaluations in maxillofacial prosthetics, emphasizing the need for well-chewed food to ensure efficient digestion and proper dental stimulation.
She presented on digital dentistry and maxillofacial prosthetics, highlighting the integration of traditional and digital workflows in patient rehabilitation. Dr. Simonne addressed the challenges and benefits of digital technology, including precision, reduced appointment times, and overcoming geographical barriers. Through case studies, she demonstrated the effectiveness of digital fabrication in improving oral function and quality of life for patients with maxillofacial defects. The session concluded with a Q&A, where participants sought clarification on topics such as impression accuracy and workflow integration.

Dr. Simonne also used questionnaires to assess patients’ quality of life and food intake ability before and after receiving prosthetics. She emphasized the integration of advanced technologies with conventional maxillofacial prosthetic fabrication as a promising solution to field challenges. Furthermore, she discussed the difficulties of digitalization, particularly in recording soft tissue structures during intraoral scanning, and outlined her future plans to integrate facial analysis, CBCT, and CT scanning for more precise data acquisition.
