The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) conducted a community service program by providing free dental check-ups for 40 students of KB/RA Baiturrohmah on Friday, 29 November 2024. This initiative is part of a biannual collaboration between KB/RA Baiturrohmah and FKG UGM, which has been regularly carried out to promote oral health among young children.
The event involved a team from FKG UGM, consisting of three lecturers, three clinical students (koas), and three teaching staff. One of the program coordinators, drg. Agatha Ravi Vidiasratri, MPH, expressed her appreciation for the active participation of KB/RA Baiturrohmah. "We truly appreciate KB/RA Baiturrohmah's commitment to routine dental check-ups. We hope this collaboration continues and brings even greater benefits to students and their families," said Agatha.
This program not only provided basic dental health examinations but also included educational sessions for both students and teachers on the importance of early oral health care. These sessions aimed to raise awareness about proper dental hygiene practices, encouraging students to adopt healthy habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.
A teacher from KB/RA Baiturrohmah, Ms. Dini, also expressed her gratitude for the program. "This program is incredibly valuable for our children. We sincerely hope this collaboration continues indefinitely," she stated.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Promoting regular dental check-ups to ensure access to quality healthcare for children; SDG 4: Quality Education – Providing oral health education to students and teachers, fostering early awareness of the importance of dental hygiene; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Strengthening the collaboration between FKG UGM and KB/RA Baiturrohmah to achieve sustainable healthcare and education improvements.
