The Specialist Dental Education Program (PPDGS) for the 2026 Academic Year was officially opened on 15 April 2026 in a ceremonial event filled with enthusiasm and optimism. The event marked an important milestone for participants as they begin their academic journey and professional dedication in the field of oral and dental healthcare.
In his remarks, one of the heads of study programs at FKG UGM, drg. Hendri Susanto, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.PM, emphasized that the PPDGS program is not merely formal education, but a process of shaping professional character with integrity.
“Welcome and congratulations to all participants. May you always be blessed with enthusiasm, self-confidence, and the ability to continue growing,” said drg. Hendri.

Academic Challenges and Participant Quality
Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, SH, MM, Ph.D., also addressed the dynamics of participant quality and the academic challenges that lie ahead. The organizers acknowledged that improving participant quality must remain a shared priority, particularly in terms of academic competence and professional readiness.
“I believe that the level of competence we currently accept still needs continuous improvement. This is our shared responsibility to ensure that the quality of graduates remains excellent,” Suryono stated.
This reflects the institution’s internal evaluation of its selection standards and educational processes, as well as its commitment to continuous improvement.

Encouraging Collaboration and Adaptation
Participants were also encouraged to adapt to a dynamic educational system and build strong collaboration, both with fellow participants and faculty members.
“The choices and systems that have been designed are part of our collective efforts. This is a framework that we must implement and continue to develop together,” he added.
The statement underscored that the success of the program depends not only on the curriculum, but also on the active participation of all stakeholders involved.
“Hopefully all participants can undergo this process successfully and provide benefits not only for themselves, but also for the broader community,” he concluded.
