The dissolution ceremony of the 78th Anniversary Committee of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), was held in a warm and spirited atmosphere of togetherness on May 12. The event marked the closing of a long series of anniversary programs that, over the past several months, successfully organized various academic, social, sports, and community service activities involving the academic community, alumni, industry partners, and the general public.
A Lively Celebration from the Beginning
Carrying the theme “Empowering Dental Sociopreneurs: Education and Technology for Oral Health Transformation,” the 78th Anniversary of FKG UGM featured numerous collaborative programs that not only strengthened the academic atmosphere but also expanded public engagement in faculty activities.
Dies ke-78 FKG UGM
One of the events that received high enthusiasm was the anniversary opening ceremony through a fun walk and togetherness activities attended by around 400 participants. The event was combined with an environmental sustainability campaign through the inauguration of a rainwater drinking installation and interdepartmental waste management education during the opening series of the 78th Anniversary celebration.
Chairman of the 78th Anniversary Committee, Dr. drg. Bramasto Purbo Sejati, Sp.BMM., Subsp.Tr.Mf.S.Tm., stated that the success of the entire program series could not be separated from the spirit of cooperation among all involved parties.
“The 78th Anniversary has proven that the spirit of collaboration within FKG UGM is very strong. We are grateful that all activities were successfully carried out thanks to the support of the academic community, alumni, partners, and all committee members who worked with full dedication,” he said.
Collaboration Between Scientific and Sports Activities
In the academic field, the 78th Anniversary Symposium also became a highlight through the organization of four international main lectures , eleven national lectures, 6 hands-on workshops, and the 3 Minutes Pitch competition involving hundreds of participants from various regions. The hands-on workshops alone successfully attracted a total of 199 participants and became a platform for strengthening professional networks in dentistry.
Beyond scientific activities, the atmosphere of togetherness was also reflected through The Fun Run anniversary event, which involved 757 participants from diverse backgrounds. The high participation demonstrated the significant potential of FKG UGM’s anniversary celebration as a platform for interaction between the faculty, alumni, professional communities, and the wider public.
Continuity of Leadership
During the committee dissolution forum, the leadership for the next anniversary celebration was also determined through mutual agreement. drg. Yosaphat Bayu Rosanto, Sp.BMM.Subsp.IGM., was appointed as Chairman of the 79th Anniversary Committee of FKG UGM, accompanied by drg. Moh. Fadyl Yunizar, MPH., Ph.D., as Vice Chairman.
Chairman of the 79th Anniversary Committee, drg. Yosaphat, expressed his commitment to continuing the spirit of collaboration that had already been established while expanding alumni and community involvement in future activities.
“We hope future anniversary celebrations can become even more inclusive spaces involving more alumni and members of the public. The spirit built by the previous committee will serve as an important foundation for organizing activities with greater impact and strengthening the sense of togetherness within the FKG UGM family,” he stated.
The spirit of community service was also realized through the Dental Charity Tourism program at Baron Beach, Gunungkidul. A total of 161 dentists participated in providing educational services, consultations, screenings, restorations, scaling, and tooth extractions for the local community. The activity became a tangible contribution of FKG UGM in supporting public oral health improvement while strengthening the implementation of the university’s tridharma mission.
Stronger Contributions and Collaboration
Closing the entire series of activities, Vice Dean III of FKG UGM, drg. Trianna Wahyu Utami, MDSc., Ph.D., expressed appreciation to all committee members and contributors who helped ensure the success of the 78th Anniversary celebration.
“The anniversary celebration is not merely an institutional celebration, but also a momentum to strengthen the sense of belonging, the spirit of mutual cooperation, and real contributions to society. We appreciate all committee members and hope this positive spirit continues in future anniversary celebrations,” she said.
Through this spirit of leadership succession, the FKG UGM Anniversary celebration is expected to continue evolving into an agenda that not only strengthens the institution’s identity, but also creates meaningful contributions to education, the transformation of the dental profession, and the welfare of society at large.
