The Prosthodontics Specialist Dental Education Program (PPDGS) of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), once again conducted a series of community service activities through the program "Training for Dental and Oral Health Cadres in Padukuhan Kragilan." This event took place on Saturday, 24 August 2024, at TARA Hotel Yogyakarta, involving lecturers and Prosthodontics residents from the 2021 cohort.
The training aimed to equip health cadres with knowledge and skills that enable them to educate the community in Padukuhan Kragilan and surrounding areas about the importance of maintaining dental and oral health. Additionally, the cadres gained an understanding of the benefits of using prostheses or dentures as a means of preserving masticatory function and aesthetics.
The training materials covered oral hygiene maintenance, the importance of prosthetic dental treatment, and an introduction to various types of dentures. A total of 25 participants attended the training enthusiastically, taking the opportunity to consult directly with the dentists providing the material.
Dr. drg. Sri Budi Barunawati, M.Kes., Sp.Pros(K), in her opening remarks, expressed her hopes: "It is hoped that through this activity, awareness of the importance of maintaining oral and dental health will increase."
This activity is also expected to be sustainable and serve as an inspiration for other institutions to participate in efforts to improve public oral and dental health. By providing this training, FKG UGM supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education) through continuous health education.
