Dr. drg. Sri Suparwitri, SU, Sp. Ort (K), more affectionately known as Dr. Loki, is a unique and inspirational figure in orthodontics. The nickname "Loki" has an intriguing backstory from her childhood. She was often called this because of her fondness for tinkering with mango seeds or 'pelok' given by her mother. This nickname has stuck with her since college, when she was known as "Locky" by her siblings and friends.
Born in Yogyakarta on 17 June 1955, Dr. Loki grew up with an active interest in sports, particularly volleyball and basketball, and even participated in various competitions. Her education began at SD Marsudirini Jogja, followed by SMP 2 Jogja and SMA N 1 Solo. In 1974, she commenced her higher education at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), where she was also actively involved in student organizations and was often elected as treasurer.
Dr. Loki began her career as a lecturer in the Department of Orthodontics in 1982. She later served as Vice Dean II for Finance and Human Resources for two terms, from 2004 to 2008 and 2008 to 2010. Her decision to step down from this position in 2010 was a courageous step towards pursuing his Master's degree.
Dr. Loki's expertise lies in treating Class III malocclusion, particularly using camouflage techniques. Her impressive educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from FKG UGM (1974-1979), a Master's degree in Health Sciences (1983-1989) from the same institution, and a specialization in Orthodontics (1994-2000) at FKG UGM. Her research on "The Effect of Using Open Coil Springs on the Treatment of Angle Class II Division I Malocclusion with the Begg Technique and Second Premolar Extraction" has made a significant contribution to the field of orthodontics. She also completed his PhD in Dental Sciences (2009-2016) at FKG UGM, with a dissertation on "The Effect of Soybean Tempeh Genistein Isoflavone on Osteoclasts, Osteoblasts, Osteocalcin, Estrogen, and Estrogen Receptors in Orthodontic Tooth Movement."
Her motto, "I will continue to be involved in education as long as it is His will," reflects Dr. Loki's dedication and commitment to education and orthodontics. Her life and career inspire future generations in dentistry, demonstrating how passion, dedication, and love for one's field can profoundly impact many people.
