FKG UGM Representatives Secure Third Place
FKG UGM Representatives Secure Third Place Meilia Krisnanda Pradani, together with Xaviera and Levia, began their intensive exploration of academic journals in August 2025 to find innovative ideas for the literature essay competition at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, held on 25 October 2025. Mei, as she is commonly called, shared that finding an innovative idea is neither easy nor impossible; it requires keen insight to identify inspiration. Together with her team, she raised the theme of a tooth strip containing fluoride and vitamin D for pregnant women. This theme was chosen with the hope that children, while still in the womb, will develop strong and healthy teeth. Mei explained that in preparing the essay, the team was supervised by Dr. drg. Rezmelia Sari, M.Sc., Sp.Perio., Subsp. R.P.I.D.(K). Throughout the preparation process, Mei, Xaviera, and Levia consistently made time to discuss despite their busy academic schedules.
“The presentation lasted 15 minutes followed by a question-and-answer session. There was one question that was beyond our prediction, namely why fluoride material was used. Although we were somewhat surprised by the question, we still tried to answer it as best as possible,” said Mei with laughter. Five teams advanced to the presentation stage, namely teams from FKG UGM, Malaysia, the Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Padjadjaran, the Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Airlangga, and the Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Indonesia.
