In an effort to achieve quality education, the Department of Oral Diseases (IPM) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) has implemented a Student-Centered Learning (Student-Centered Learning ) approach in June 2024.
This activity focused on the topic of Oral Lesion Management, which is an essential subject in the Bachelor of Dentistry program curriculum.
During this session, all lecturers from the IPM Department actively participated in implementing SCL by utilizing a case discussion approach in small groups (Team-Based Learning and Case-Based Learning). This method is designed to encourage active student participation and facilitate deeper learning.
This initiative aligns with the Department of IPM’s commitment to improving education quality and supports the Key Performance Indicators (IKU) set by the Ministry of Education and Culture, particularly IKU 7, related to Collaborative and Participatory Classes.
With this approach, students are expected to better understand the material, develop critical thinking skills, and be well-prepared to face challenges in the professional world.
Moreover, this activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
