On Saturday (24/9), FKG UGM organized an expert lecture in the classroom of the DLC Building with speakers Prof. Dr. Erik Reimhult, Chair of the Department of Nanobiotechnology, and Dr. Guruprakash Subbiahdoss, Senior Scientist from the University of Natural Resource and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU University), Vienna, Austria

During their visit scheduled from 23-28 September 2022 to Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Dr. Erik Reimhult had the opportunity to speak at the Graduate Program of FKG with the topic "Biomedical Nanoparticles in Dentistry," while Dr. Guruprakash Subbiahdoss presented on "Biofilms at Interface at Biomaterial."

The collaboration between FKG UGM, BOKU University, and BRIN on this occasion provided a valuable opportunity for graduate students to attend lectures by experts in their fields. As stated by Dr. drg. Retno Ardhani, M.Sc., the coordinator of the event,

"Throughout the lecture sessions, students actively participated not only in assisting with event organization but also in engaging in discussions. Moreover, they were encouraged to interact fully inside and outside the classroom."

Through this collaboration, the aim is to facilitate knowledge exchange on nanoparticle applications in the development of education in dental medicine, spanning production, raw materials, technology, industry, and clinical aspects at FKG UGM.

At least 13 graduate students specializing in IKGK attended the expert lecture in person, with more than 40 participants joining via the Zoom video conference platform. The event included introductions by moderators and speakers, presentations by the speakers, and discussion sessions. It concluded with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) attended by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation of FKG UGM, drg. Triana Wahyu Utami, MDSc., Ph.D., ad hoc Chair of Denta Learning Center drg. Heni Susilowati, M.Kes., Ph.D., and Project Implementation Unit Director JICA Ir. Hotma Prawoto Sulistyadi, M.T.

Dr. Guruprakash expressed his satisfaction with the discussion, stating, "The discussion went well and was very interesting today." Thus, through interactive discussions with graduate students, the speakers also hoped to receive constructive feedback, considering the different study focuses of students and speakers.

This successful event provided an opportunity for faculty and students to communicate, interact, and discuss directly regarding collaborations with experts from Austria. Dr. drg. Retno Ardhani, M.Sc., the event coordinator, added that this event also served as a platform to create international collaboration opportunities.

"This expert lecture hopes to provide a global perspective specifically for IKGK program students. Through the FGD, ideas for collaborative research emerged towards developing the dental learning center," she continued.
