The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) is opening doors to global collaboration. FKG UGM held a meeting with Bastiaan Krom, Ph.D., a representative from the Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA) on Friday, 9 August 2024. The meeting discussed potential collaboration opportunities between the two institutions.
Representatives from various departments at FKG UGM also attended the meeting. Drg. Trianna Wahyu Utami, MDSc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, expressed hope that cooperation with ACTA would provide new insights for lecturers and researchers at FKG UGM. “We are very interested in collaborating with ACTA, one of the world’s leading institutions in dentistry,” said Trianna.
Bastiaan Krom, Ph.D., highlighted various flagship programs at ACTA, including its innovative educational curriculum. “At ACTA, we have a six-year dental education program that integrates theoretical learning with intensive practical training,” he said. He also mentioned that one of ACTA's standout facilities is the Simodont, a 3D simulation tool that allows students to practice dental procedures virtually.
In addition to education, ACTA operates a dental health service center that serves around 25,000 patients annually. Collaboration with ACTA is expected to enrich the educational and research experience at FKG UGM, as well as open opportunities for students and lecturers to engage in education and research.
