The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Kristen Petra (UK Petra), Surabaya, on Wednesday, 19 November 2025. The visit aimed to follow up discussions on institutional development, strengthening research roadmaps, and human resource development.
Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, stated that FKG UGM is committed to serving as a collaborative hub for the development of national dental education institutions.
“FKG UGM believes that strengthening dental education institutions in Indonesia cannot be achieved in isolation. We are ready to share best practices and experiences in developing educational programs, research, human resources, and governance to improve the quality of dental education nationwide,” he remarked.
During the discussion, FKG UK Petra outlined its needs in three main areas: curriculum strengthening and academic development, formulation of a relevant and applicable institutional research roadmap, and strategies for accreditation and governance restructuring in preparation for accreditation in 2027. The discussion covered curriculum design, faculty development strategies, academic administration restructuring, budget alignment, and academic branding based on institutional strengths.
In response, FKG UGM shared best practices in educational program development, including strategies for human resource and research development, academic quality assurance systems, digital dentistry initiatives, and strengthening national and international networks.
Dean Suryono further emphasized the importance of a focused and integrated research roadmap aligned with community needs, noting that such an approach would yield positive institutional development outcomes.

Dean of FKG UK Petra, Drg. Roberto Simanjuntak, M.S., Sp.BM, expressed appreciation for FKG UGM’s openness and willingness to share experiences.
He acknowledged FKG UGM as a successful model in integrating education, research, community service, and international collaboration.
“We hope this institutional guidance will not stop at today’s discussion but will develop into strategic partnerships, ranging from curriculum strengthening and joint research to faculty and student exchanges,” he concluded.
