A total of 130 high school students from various regions across Indonesia participated in the Dentistry Open Day (DOD) 2025 at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), on Saturday (1/11). This activity served as a platform for prospective students to become more familiar with the study programs, environment, and academic life at FKG UGM.
The Chair of DOD 2025, Azra Nayla, explained that the event aimed to provide participants with a real picture of university life in dental education. “We want participants to experience the campus atmosphere firsthand and to learn more about the study programs at FKG UGM. We hope this activity can add to their experience and foster their enthusiasm to pursue their dreams,” she said.
Azra further explained that this year’s theme was “Reach for the sky, build your future with a smile,”which conveys an invitation for the younger generation to dare to aim high and build their future with enthusiasm and optimism. Participants came not only from Yogyakarta and Central Java, but also from various regions such as Bengkulu, Lombok, and East Java. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident from the extraordinarily fast registration process, as event tickets sold out in just 10 seconds after registration opened.
In addition to gaining insights into the undergraduate education programs at FKG UGM, participants were also invited to tour the campus, visit the Anatomy Laboratory to learn about dental anatomy, and directly observe human anatomical specimens. Furthermore, there was an Alginate Workshop that provided hands-on experience in molding dental materials, as well as a Virtual Student Activity Unit (UKM) Expo showcasing various student activities at FKG UGM.
“Through this activity, I hope participants can gain a deeper understanding of learning methods, available facilities, and campus life at FKG UGM. We want them to be motivated to become part of the extended FKG UGM family,” she concluded.
