A Total of 47 Patients Have Had Dental Impressions Taken for the Making of Dentures

The Prosthodontics Study Program, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), has carried out a Community Service activity held at Ratu Aji Putri Botung Regional Hospital on 1–2 August 2025, Nenang District, Penajam Paser Utara Regency. This activity was the first stage of a series of community service programs, which included dental and oral health education as well as the establishment of health cadres from two villages, namely Nipah-Nipah Village and Nenang Village. In addition to the education session, the FKG UGM team also conducted dental impressions as part of the process of making dentures for residents in need, particularly in the Penajam Paser Utara Regency area.

This service was provided free of charge as a form of UGM’s commitment to expanding healthcare access to remote areas. The collaboration involved various parties, including the Government of Penajam Paser Utara Regency, Ratu Aji Putri Botung Regional Hospital, the Indonesian Prosthodontics Association (IPROSI) East and North Kalimantan (Kaltimtara) Branch and Yogyakarta Branch, as well as the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) Penajam Paser Utara Branch.

In this activity, the Prosthodontics Study Program of FKG UGM also introduced Digital Dentistry technology, specifically the use of an Intra Oral Scanner for digital jaw impressions, which represents an innovation in modern dentistry. Penajam Paser Utara Regency itself is part of Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Academic Health System (AHS). Therefore, this activity also represents a tangible contribution of UGM in supporting equitable healthcare services in AHS partner regions.

The main objective of this activity is to improve public knowledge about dental and oral health and to reduce disparities in access to dental health services by providing free denture-making services for those in need.
