The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), held the Entry Exam Computer Based Test (CBT) on Saturday, 30 August 2025. A total of 22 prospective professional students took the exam, which serves as the main gateway to enter the stage of professional dental education (clinical clerkship/koas).
According to drg. Shoimah, one of the organizing committee members, the Entry Exam CBT is specifically designed to measure the competence and mastery of dentistry knowledge acquired by students during their undergraduate (S1) studies.
“The main objective of this Entry Exam CBT is to assess the knowledge of dentistry they have gained during their undergraduate studies and also to filter prospective professional students who are truly academically ready to enter the professional program,” explained Shoimah.
She added that this exam is crucial for maintaining the quality of the education process at the professional stage. With strict selection, it is expected that only students with adequate foundational knowledge and analytical skills will be able to continue to the clerkship stage.
“This exam is important to avoid the risk of admitting students who are not yet ready, which could hinder the learning process in the clinic during clerkship. It is also essential to sharpen analytical skills, which are fundamental in dental practice,” she stated.
In the July 2025 period, a total of 22 participants took the CBT. “The participants consisted of 11 new applicants (first-takers) and 11 repeat applicants from the previous period (re-takers),” detailed Shoimah.
Regarding the level of difficulty, Drg. Shoimah emphasized that the standard remained consistent with the previous period to maintain objectivity in assessment. The exam consisted of multiple-choice questions with case scenarios (vignettes) , completed through the eLok application.
“The level of difficulty remained comparable to the previous period. This was reviewed by the exam development team to ensure the quality standard was maintained without placing an excessive burden on the participants,” she concluded.
