Department of Oral Diseases Trials New Exam System for Dentistry Students

In an effort to ensure quality education, the Department of Oral Diseases (IPM) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), has begun implementing changes to the final departmental exam format for professional dentistry students.

The adapted format includes the CBT (Computer-based Test) and the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination). These formats align with the current national competency exam structure.

Both exams are part of the Clinical Clerkship Program of the Department of Oral Diseases.

The CBT exam was held on Wednesday (24/7) from 08:30 AM to 12:00 PM WIB at the CBT Center Lab, 5th Floor, DLC Building, FKG UGM. Meanwhile, the OSCE exam took place on Thursday (25/7) from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM WIB at the OSCE Center Lab, 6th Floor, DLC Building, FKG UGM.

Students have positively responded to these changes, as some of them were not yet familiar with the OSCE format, often leading to nervousness.

The inclusion of the OSCE exam in the department is seen as a helpful practice for students in preparing for the actual national competency exam. This adjustment is expected to help students become more comfortable with national examinations.

This initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, which remains a key commitment of the Department of Oral Diseases.
