UGM Korpagama Webinar: Enhancing Well-being through Interest-Free Savings and Loan Program

Yogyakarta, 6 December 2024 – UGM's Korpagama Center successfully organized a webinar titled "Building Prosperity through Solidarity: By, From, and For Us with an Interest-Free Savings and Loan Program." Conducted online via Zoom Meeting, the event gathered active participation from various units within UGM, fostering a spirit of mutual cooperation for collective well-being.

The webinar featured drg. Asikin Nur, M.Kes., Ph.D. (Chairperson of Korpagama FKG UGM) and Ms. Wulansari, S.S. (Head of the Administration Office of FKG UGM) as speakers, with Drs. Heru Marwata, M.Hum. (Lecturer at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM) serving as the moderator.

Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of community-based innovation in creating a positive impact on both the academic community and society at large.

“This initiative reflects the essence of togetherness, which is the foundation of Korpagama. Through this interest-free savings and loan program, we not only support the well-being of our members but also contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting financial inclusion and reducing economic disparities,” he stated.

The moderator opened the session by highlighting the crucial role of Korpagama in improving members' well-being through innovative, solidarity-based programs. The first presentation, delivered by drg. Asikin Nur, M.Kes., Ph.D., explored various Korpagama programs at the Faculty of Dentistry UGM under the theme “Korpagama at FKG UGM”. He outlined the four main areas of Korpagama: sports and arts, welfare, business and cooperation, and spirituality. According to him, these programs are designed to strengthen solidarity while enhancing members' quality of life.

Following this, Ms. Wulansari, S.S. provided an in-depth discussion on the flagship interest-free savings and loan program. She explained that the program was developed in response to concerns about members being trapped in high-interest loans, which significantly affected their financial stability and family life. “This program offers a real solution, featuring a transparent system focused on members' well-being,” she explained.

The Q&A session served as an interactive moment for participants to gain a deeper understanding of the program. Many attendees expressed appreciation for Korpagama’s initiative, which is not only innovative but also highly relevant to members' financial needs. This program plays a crucial role in creating inclusive financial solutions, supporting SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

This webinar reaffirmed Korpagama UGM’s commitment to continuously developing solidarity-based programs that contribute to sustainable well-being for all members.
