Surveillance and Witness at the Integrated Research Laboratory, Faculty of Dentistry, UGM

The Integrated Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Dentistry, Gadjah Mada University (LRT FKG UGM), held an accreditation surveillance and witness testing event on 2-3 September 2024. This event aimed to ensure that the laboratory continues to meet the ISO 17025 standards recognized by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) and to expand the scope of the testing conducted.

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Integrated Research and Testing Laboratory at UGM's new LPPT building. It was attended by the Head of LPPT UGM, the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration, as well as various heads of laboratories and supervisors from Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The accreditation surveillance involved periodic assessments of the quality management system, operational procedures, and the laboratory’s performance. Additionally, the "witness" testing was conducted to observe the testing process from start to finish, to understand the methods and techniques used, and to evaluate the results obtained.

The Integrated Research Laboratory also proposed expanding the scope of testing to include:

  1. Surface Roughness Test
  2. Dilution and diffusion tests for Candida Albicans ATCC 10231
  3. Dilution and diffusion tests for Pseudomonas Aeruginosa ATCC 10145
  4.  Dilution and diffusion tests for Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212
  5. Dilution and diffusion tests for Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923
  6. Dilution and diffusion tests for Streptococcus sanguinis ATCC 10556
  7. Dilution and diffusion tests for Escherichia coli ATCC 25922

The event also included tests such as:

  1. Microhardness Tester (surface hardness)
  2. Biofilm testing for Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175

With the completion of this surveillance and the expansion of testing scope, it is hoped that the Integrated Research Laboratory will continue to enhance the quality of its research and testing. This initiative supports the achievement of SDGs 4 (Quality Education), SDGs 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDGs 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
