BMM Study Program at UGM Attends RAKERNAS-PIT PABMI in Bali

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (BMM) Study Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM),, participated in the series of events for the National Working Meeting (RAKERNAS) and the Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) of the Indonesian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (PABMI). Lecturers and residents from BMM UGM attended this event together.

Overview

The RAKERNAS and PIT PABMI are annual events held once a year. This year’s event took place from 22-24 August 2024, at The Stones Hotel Legian, Bali, and was attended by oral and maxillofacial specialists from across Indonesia.

Variety of Activities

The Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT) PABMI is an academic event organized by PABMI, featuring seminars and hands-on sessions for specialists, residents, and general dentists. This year’s edition also included the National Working Meeting to discuss the programs that PABMI will implement in the coming years. Additionally, the event featured a Sports Competition for residents, including Badminton and Mini Soccer, and Scientific Competition with Short Lecture and Poster Presentation. By participating in seminars and hands-on sessions, residents can-update their knowledge in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Other Notable Information

Among the speakers at the seminar were lecturers from the BMM Study Program at UGM. The head of the BMM Study Program, drg. Cahya Yustisia Hasan, Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.C.O.M.(K), delivered a lecture on "Closure in Palatal Cleft.” He discussed the fundamentals of cleft palate surgery, its complications, and how to manage them. Pediatric consultant drg. Pingky Krisna Arindra, Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.Ped.O.M.(K), also presented a lecture titled “Oral and Maxillofacial Injuries in the Pediatric Patient: An Overview” Additionally, a young lecturer and doctoral candidate, drg. Yosaphat Bayu Rosanto, MDSc., Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.I.D.M.(K), lectured on two occasions: in a seminar titled “Rational Use of Antibiotics in Odontogenic Infection” dan Hands-on ” and a hands-on session titled “How to Perform Incision and Drainage of Abscess”.

The participation of the BMM Study Program at the RAKERNAS and PIT PABMI 2024 in Bali aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Pillar 4: Quality Education.
