Supporting Quality Education, IKGM & IKGP Departments of FKG UGM Hold Workshop on Standardizing Dentist Profession Program Curriculum

The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) organized The workshop and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the dentist profession program curriculum of the Department of Public Dental Health (IKGM) and Preventive Dentistry (IKGP). This event took place on Thursday (8/8) in the IUP Room at FKG UGM and was attended by lecturers from both the IKGM and IKGP departments.

The workshop aimed to align perceptions among all instructors regarding the assessment and guidelines for preparing clinical practicum reports in Public Dental Health and Preventive Dentistry.

During this event, discussions were held about assessment guidelines and working documents for clinical practicum reports. This initiative is an important step toward improving the quality of education in the fields of Public Dental Health and Preventive Dentistry.

In his remarks, the Head of the IKGM & IKGP Departments, Drg. Lisdrianto Hanindriyo, MPH., Ph.D, presented material outlining the general description of the IKGMP clerkship. “The three-credit IKGMP clerkship must meet the competency standards for dental graduates, which cover three main domains: Professionalism, Public Dental Health, and Dental Practice Management, which are the responsibility of the IKGP and IKGM Departments,” he said.

Additionally, Drg. Lisdrianto emphasized the importance of developing guidelines for the Assessment of Professional Dental Practicum in Public Dental Health and Preventive Dentistry, as well as the format for Professional Dental Practicum Reports as the expected outcome of this activity.

With these guidelines, it is expected that the assessment and reporting process of clinical practicum will become more systematic and standardized, thereby supporting the achievement of high-quality graduate competencies.

The event concluded with the drafting of the Assessment Guidelines and Practicum Report Format documents, which will later serve as official guidelines for all lecturers and students within the IKGM and IKGP departments.

The workshop is part of FKG UGM’s efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the fourth pillar (Quality Education)The focus is on education for sustainable development and global citizenship. By aligning perceptions and developing clear guidelines, it is hoped that graduates will become professional, integrity-driven, and globally aware medical practitioners.
