The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) held a graduation ceremony today for 20 new postgraduate graduates. These graduates come from various study programs, including doctoral, master's, and dental specialist programs. The lively event, held at the Margono Soeradji Auditorium at FKG UGM, marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the graduates.
In his address, the Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. Dr. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the graduates. “The memories of being a student may have been challenging, but those sacrifices have paid off today,” he stated. He also advised the graduates to always uphold the good name of their alma mater.
Prof. Dr. drg. Juni Handajani, M.Kes., Ph.D., in her remarks, emphasized the importance of personal development. “Always be prepared to adapt to change and new innovations, and never stop learning and acquiring skills,” she advised. She also stressed the importance of ethics and integrity in the practice of their profession.
Representing the graduates, Drg. Nastiti Mayangjati Surya Hapsari, Sp. Perio., highlighted the importance of contributing to society. “Our duties as students have ended, but the responsibility for the knowledge and degrees we have earned will remain with us throughout our lives,” she asserted. Nastiti urged the graduates not to be trapped by materialism but to focus on the welfare of the broader community.
The number of female and male graduates in this graduation period was equal, with 10 female graduates (50 percent) and 10 male graduates (50 percent).
For the Master's Program (S2), the average study duration was 2 years and 2 months, with the fastest completion time achieved by I Wayan Gita Pratama, who finished his studies in 1 year, 10 months, and 10 days. The average Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for the Master's program graduates this period was 3.80.
For the Specialist Program, the average study duration was 3.5 years, with the shortest study period achieved in the Periodontics specialist program, completed in 3 years or 6 semesters.
The average CGPA for Specialist Program graduates was 3.97. All 13 Specialist Program graduates (100 percent) graduated with honors. The youngest graduate was Adiguna Putra Walianto from the Periodontics Specialist Program, who graduated at the age of 27 years, 2 months, and 16 days.
For the Doctoral Program, the average study duration was 4 years and 3 months. The fastest completion time was achieved by Rahmawati Sri Praptiningsih and Prima Agusmawanti, both of whom finished their studies in 3 years, 9 months, and 13 days.
The average age of Doctoral Program graduates was 48 years and 6 months, with the youngest graduate being Prima Agusmawanti, who completed her doctoral studies at the age of 43.
This event reflects several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality).
