A total of 208 new students from the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) participated in the Pionir I-Dentistry event. The Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono S.H., M.M., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the new students at the Margono Soeradji Auditorium on Wednesday (31/7).
In his speech, Dean drg. Suryono congratulated the new students and expressed his hopes that they would approach their studies with enthusiasm. He advised the students to appreciate every learning experience at FKG UGM. “Do not view your coursework and assignments as burdens. Embrace them with enthusiasm and gratitude, as you are among the chosen ones to study here,” said Suryono.
This year’s Pionir I-Dentistry event carries the theme “Pancawarna Nusantara,” representing the diversity of the new students from various regions of Indonesia. “This theme symbolizes that FKG UGM embraces the many colors of Indonesia,” said Muhammad Fariz, the Pionir I-Dentistry student coordinator.
Aligned with the tagline “Rembaka Dulur Ingiring Kalpasastra,” the event aims to be a positive start for new students to get to know each other and work together towards achieving their goals as outstanding FKG UGM students.
In addition to the main event, Pionir I-Dentistry featured a series of engaging activities. One highlight was the session “How to Train Your Dentistry Life” which offered tips and tricks for managing life as a dental student. The subsequent discussion allowed new students to ask questions and discuss the challenges they would face.
New students were also invited to participate in a Faculty Tour and Open Laboratorysession. This provided them with an opportunity to become familiar with the campus environment and the laboratory facilities they will use during their studies. This orientation is expected to help new students adapt more quickly to the academic environment at FKG UGM.
