Two study programs at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) received a field assessment visit from the Indonesian Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAMPT-Kes). The visited programs were the Dental Education Study Program and the Dental Profession Study Program. The field assessment took place on 25 and 26 June 2024.
Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., Dean of FKG UGM, expressed his appreciation to the task force team for their preparation in welcoming the LAMPT-Kes field assessment team. According to him, achieving the vision of becoming a leading national and world-class higher education institution requires maintaining high standards of quality, particularly in education and teaching.
"The field assessment activity is conducted to advance FKG UGM and make it a better institution," said Suryono.
Three assessors were responsible for capturing the facts on the ground: drg. Sri Angky Soekanto, Ph.D., Dr. drg. Hendra Dian Adhita Dharsono, Sp.KG(K), and Prof. drg. Mohammad Dharma Utama, Ph.D., Sp.Pros., SubSp.PKIKG(K).
Representing the assessors, drg. Sri Angky Soekanto, Ph.D., expressed her hope that this activity would provide valuable input to FKG UGM, especially in improving the quality of education.
"We will gather all feedback from students, lecturers, and graduates' employers. This is all for the advancement of the dental profession institution," said Angky.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia, it disrupted all activities, including teaching and education at FKG UGM. In response, FKG UGM made efforts to ensure educational activities could continue, such as implementing distance learning, creating educational videos, and providing facilities for professional students.
dr. Widya Wasityastuti, M.Sc., M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., representing the Quality Assurance and Reputation Unit of Universitas Gadjah Mada (SPMRU UGM), expressed her appreciation to FKG UGM for their ongoing collaboration in quality assurance efforts, both in the learning process and in research, community service, and various other non-academic programs.
"We hope the assessors will provide input and feedback for these two study programs to become even better," said Widya.
LAMPT-Kes accreditation is essential as it offers several benefits for educational quality, enhances the competitiveness of graduates, and opens opportunities for collaboration with global institutions. This aligns with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the 4th pillar (Quality Education), the 16th pillar (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and the 17th pillar (Partnerships for the Goals).
