Yogyakarta, 30 Oktober 2024 – The Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKKMK UGM) organized the Summer Course 2024 titled "Empowering Communities for Climate Health Resilience." This event brought together participants from eight countries, including the Netherlands, Malaysia, Malta, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Singapore, India, and Indonesia. The participants were students and professionals from various fields, ranging from undergraduate to master's level, as well as professionals.
One of the speakers at this Summer Course was drg. Lisdrianto Hanindriyo, MPH, ph.D., a lecturer from the Department of Preventive Dentistry and Public Health, Faculty of Dentistry, UGM. He presented on the topic of Green Dentistry, highlighting the role of dentistry in efforts to reduce carbon footprints and preserve the environment. In his presentation, drg. Lisdrianto emphasized the importance of implementing the principles of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink" in dental practices that focus on sustainable environmental conservation.
The discussions following the presentation were active and dynamic, with participants from diverse academic backgrounds offering different perspectives and approaches to addressing climate change issues. It is hoped that this event will broaden the participants' understanding of integrating sustainability concepts into their respective fields of study.
This event indirectly supports UGM's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13: Climate Action.
