The Pediatric Dentistry Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), conducted a workshop titled Evaluation System for the Pediatric Dentistry Specialist Program on Saturday, 14 December 2024. The event took place at the IUP Room, FKG UGM, and was attended by lecturers and students of the program.
The workshop aimed to assess learning methods within the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum to strengthen the program’s educational framework. Dr. drg. Indra Bramanti, MSc., Sp.KGA(K), led the session, featuring drg. Yanuarti Retnaningrum, Sp.Ort(K), as the keynote speaker. In her presentation, drg. Yanuarti emphasized the importance of an effective evaluation system in supporting learning outcomes and highlighted its impact on reducing child mortality rates related to pediatric dental health issues.
Participants engaged in intensive discussions, exploring the challenges and opportunities in implementing OBE-based evaluations. The interactive session provided a platform for sharing experiences and best practices in assessing learning outcomes. Discussions reinforced the need for a dynamic evaluation system that aligns with evolving societal needs and advancements in dental technology.
Beyond providing new insights, the workshop strengthened collaboration among educators and practitioners. Participants expressed their commitment to continuously improving the evaluation system to produce competent pediatric dentists capable of addressing future healthcare challenges.
This workshop represents an important step in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – by improving access to quality dental education; SDG 4: Quality Education – by providing a relevant and innovative curriculum; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – through collaborations with various stakeholders.
