A New ‘Driver’s License’ for FKG UGM Postgraduate Graduates

FKG UGM POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM GRADUATION CEREMONY – APRIL 22, 2026

The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), officially graduated its Postgraduate Program students on April 22, 2026. The ceremony, held at the FKG UGM Auditorium, marked the graduation of specialist dentists and master’s program graduates from various regions across Indonesia.

According to the official graduation data, the April 2026 graduates came from several specialist study programs, including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics, as well as the Master’s Program in Dental Science.

Specifically, the number of graduates in this period included:

  1. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist Program: 6 graduates
  2. Orthodontics Specialist Program: 2 graduates
  3. Periodontics Specialist Program: 4 graduates
  4. Prosthodontics Specialist Program: 4 graduates
  5. Master’s Program (S2): 3 graduates

The graduates came from various regions such as Medan, Surabaya, Samarinda, Banyumas, Semarang, Palembang, Tarakan, and Yogyakarta, reflecting the national reach of FKG UGM in producing professional dental healthcare personnel.

Strong Academic Achievement

Most graduates earned the distinction ofcum laude, with outstanding academic performance, including a GPA reaching 3.98 in the master’s program. This reflects the academic quality and rigorous educational process at FKG UGM.

Several research projects conducted by the graduates also demonstrated strong scientific contributions, ranging from studies on dental biomaterials and CAD/CAM technology to clinical research on periodontal disease and public health.

Graduates Must Be Ready to Serve

In her remarks, the Head of the Periodontics Study Program at FKG UGM, Dr. drg. Rezmelia Sari, MSc., Sp.Perio., Subsp.RPID(K)

, emphasized that graduation is not the end, but the beginning of service in the professional world.

“Today is the starting point. The world out there awaits contributions from the knowledge you have learned. We believe the graduates are equipped with the competence, integrity, and empathy needed to serve society,” she stated.

She also stressed that the lengthy educational process had shaped not only the graduates’ academic abilities, but also their professional character.

Graduates Must Be Ready for Real Practice in Society di Masyarakat

Meanwhile, the Dean of FKG UGM, Suryono, compared graduation to obtaining a “driver’s license” in the professional world.

“Today, it is as though you have just obtained your driver’s license. This means the advanced journey has begun. Use your knowledge carefully, with discipline, and with full responsibility,” he emphasized.

He also reminded graduates of the importance of upholding the good name of their alma mater and learning from every stage of the educational process, including difficult experiences during their studies.

Graduate Representative: Knowledge for Humanity

The graduate representative, Lastry Ruth Maya T. M. Padang, expressed that the journey to becoming a specialist dentist was full of challenges and far from easy.

“We stand here not only carrying degrees, but also stories of long struggles, nights that felt too short, exhaustion, and doubts that have finally been rewarded today,” she said, occasionally pausing emotionally.

drg. Lastry emphasized that dental science is not merely a technical skill, but a mandate to serve society.

“Knowledge must live within society and become a bridge for improving the quality of human life,” she added.

Contribution to National Oral Health

With graduates coming from various regions and institutions, FKG UGM hopes its alumni will strengthen dental healthcare services throughout Indonesia, whether in hospitals, clinics, educational institutions, or community service initiatives.

This graduation ceremony also reaffirmed the role of FKG UGM as one of Indonesia’s leading centers of dental education, continuously producing competent professionals with high integrity at the national level.
