SENYUM SENSASI: A Stress-Relieving Activity at FKG UGM

Working regularly every day often leads to high stress levels, both mentally and physically. According to the Journal of Adolescent Health (2020), physical activities such as exercise can reduce anxiety and depression. Exercise helps release endorphins, chemicals in the brain that act as natural stress relievers, helping people feel happier and less anxious.

This event was also participated by FKKMK, F. Farmasi, and RSGM UGM.

The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK), the Faculty of Pharmacy (F. Farmasi), and the UGM Prof. Soedomo Dental Teaching Hospital (RSGM UGM) routinely organizes joint exercise sessions. The activity, named SENYUM SENSASI (Exercise, Breakfast, and Socializing), is held every Friday morning on a rotating basis. On Friday, 18 October, FKG UGM hosted the event. This initiative reflects FKG UGM's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), particularly Goal 3, which focuses on health and well-being.

In addition to providing a refreshing break for the academic community, this event also serves as an opportunity for socializing and reunions. The event was attended by the deans of FKG, FKKMK, F. Farmasi, and the directors of RSGM UGM.
After the exercise session, participants enjoyed the provided breakfast. There were also health check-up facilities available for attendees, including anthropometricmeasurements, blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests, uric acid tests, cholesterol checks, and dental health checks. Additionally, consultations on general and dental health were available. Through this, FKG UGM is also committed to achieving SDG Goal 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions.

SENYUM SENSASI Benefits All Parties

The Head of HPU SENYUM FKG UGM, drg. Tjut Intan Permatasari, Sp.PM , stated that the main goal of this activity is not only to strengthen social bonds but also to create a healthy health cluster community. "Through the regular exercise sessions, we hope that the bond between the health faculties, such as FKG, FKKMK, F. Farmasi, RSGM UGM Prof. Soedomo, and the surrounding health cluster units, becomes even stronger. This is not just in research and community service but also in improving the health levels of our academic community. Ultimately, this will benefit the institution with increased work quality. In the end, all parties will experience the positive and fulfilling impact,” said drg. Intan.
