The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) held a seminar titled “Seminar and Live Surgery: Orthognathic Surgery” at the Margono Soeradji Building on 18 February 2024. The seminar was attended by numerous professionals and residents in the field of dentistry, particularly in orthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
The event featured a range of speakers who presented comprehensive materials related to planning and techniques in orthognathic surgery. The first presentation was delivered by drg. Bramasto Purbo Sejati, Sp.BMM., Subsp.T.M.T.M.J.(K), who discussed Maxillofacial Hardware, such as plates and screws, which are essential components in maxillofacial surgical procedures.
The second presentation was given by drg. Jusuf Sjamsudin, Sp.Ort(K), who emphasized the importance of planning in orthognathic surgical treatment. In his presentation, he outlined key steps in the planning process that involve close collaboration between orthodontic specialists and oral surgeons.
The third session featured Rear Admiral (Ret.) Prof. Dr. drg. Setyo Harnowo, Sp.B.M.M., Subsp.Ortognat-D(K), FICD, FICCDE, an internationally renowned orthognathic expert, who discussed Orthognathic Surgery. This presentation thoroughly covered the orthognathic surgical procedures and their role in correcting complex facial and jaw structure issues.
The seminar was attended by orthodontic residents, orthodontic specialists, oral and maxillofacial surgery residents, and oral and maxillofacial surgery specialists. This event served as an important platform for professionals to exchange knowledge and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of orthognathic surgery.
