To support student comfort and readiness during the Final Semester Examinations (UAS), the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), has begun providing free breakfast in the form of milk and bread for students taking morning exam sessions. The program officially commenced on December 9, 2025, and is planned to run throughout the examination period.
The Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Working Team at FKG UGM, Dyana Rakhmasari Kusumaningsih, S.E., M.Ec.Dev., explained that the initiative reflects the faculty’s concern for students’ well-being, particularly those who arrive early and often have no opportunity to eat before exams.
“Many students come in a rush and do not have time for breakfast. We want to ensure they have sufficient energy and comfort before entering the examination room. For now, we are starting with milk and bread for the morning sessions,” she said on Monday (December 9, 2025).
Dyana added that the program responds to the practical needs of students who frequently arrive in a hurry and skip breakfast. Therefore, the faculty considers additional support necessary to help students remain focused during the examination period.
Breakfast distribution was adjusted to examination locations spread across several rooms, with a total of 225 students receiving meals during the morning session. Distribution took place before exams began to ensure an orderly process without disrupting examination procedures.

“This is still an initial phase. This year, we are first adapting to field conditions. In the future, there may be evaluations or adjustments to optimize the program,” Dyana added.
The initiative was warmly welcomed by FKG UGM students. Azka Aziza, a student from the 2025 cohort, admitted she did not expect to receive free breakfast during exams. “Sometimes with morning exams, there’s no time to eat. Arriving on campus and getting milk and bread really helps so I’m not hungry and can focus better,” she said.
A similar sentiment was shared by Zamilia Putri Asmiani, who noted that such a light breakfast is ideal due to its practicality. “Milk and bread are perfect for the morning—simple, but filling,” she said.
In addition to the free breakfast program, student feedback regarding academic services has also been noted, including requests for study spaces to remain open until evening during the examination period. Dyana stated that this idea is currently under consideration for future trial implementation.
