Advances in technology continue to bring significant progress in the field of dentistry, one of which is through the use of Erbium YAG laser technology. This advancement was discussed at the seminar “Enhancing Dentistry with Laser-Assisted Treatment” held at the RA Suites Simatupang Hotel, Jakarta, on 5 October 2024. The event brought together dentists from across Indonesia to learn firsthand about the benefits of this technology, which offers more precise, comfortable, and pain-minimized dental treatments.
In support of quality education, the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) sent a delegation led by drg. Henytaria Fajrianti, Sp.KG, a lecturer from the Department of Dental Conservation. The seminar introduced the Erbium YAG laser as an innovative solution for restoration and endodontic procedures. “This laser allows for the removal of dental caries without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue, making the treatment experience more comfortable for patients,” explained drg. Henytaria.
In addition to restoration, this technology is effective for cutting soft tissue and performing root canal treatments with high precision and minimal invasiveness. “The use of Erbium YAG in dental conservation is a major breakthrough. It not only speeds up procedures but also improves the quality of treatment outcomes,” she added.
Through this seminar, FKG UGM supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education). By participating in this event, FKG UGM aims to provide high-quality education for its students and offer safe and comfortable dental care services.
