UGM Periodontics Specialist Residents Take National Competency Examination – November 2024 Session

Yogyakarta, Saturday (23/11/2024) – The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) successfully conducted the National Competency Examination for Periodontics Specialists, an essential step to ensure aspiring specialists meet the required standards for delivering high-quality periodontic care. 

The examination consisted of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), designed to assess both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The examiners comprised internal and external examiners. The internal examiners included: drg. Kwartarini Murdiastuti, Sp.Perio., SubSp. R.P.I.D(K)., drg. Sri Pramestri Lastianny, MS., Sp.Perio., SubSp. R.P.I.D(K)., drg. Rezmelia Sari, MSc., Sp.Perio., SubSp. R.P.I.D(K). Meanwhile, the external examiner was drg. Rini Octavia Nasution, SH., M.Kes., Sp.Perio., SubSp. R.P.I.D(K) from Universitas Sumatera Utara. 

drg. Rini Octavia, the external examiner, expressed her optimism about the examination process: "The competency exam went smoothly, and UGM participants performed well. I hope they become periodontics specialists who contribute to society and remain eager to expand their knowledge."

This reflects the commitment to sustainable education and emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning in the field of periodontics.

Additionally, drg. Kwartarini, Head of the Periodontics Specialist Program at FKG UGM, shared her hopes for the participants: 

"I hope all UGM participants achieve the best results and that their knowledge benefits others. Always remember your alma mater and stay motivated to share your expertise and clinical experience wherever you go." She emphasized the role of education in fostering responsibility among future specialists.

This competency exam was not merely a test of knowledge—it was a celebration of hard work and dedication by the participants throughout their studies. By integrating continuous professional education into its curriculum, FKG UGM ensures that students are not only well-prepared for their exams but also equipped to make a lasting impact.

This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Strengthening the quality of dental healthcare through competent specialists; and SDG 4: Quality Education – Committing to lifelong learning and professional development in higher education.
