Yogyakarta – Yogyakarta – The Periodontics Specialist Program of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has once again achieved a proud milestone at the national level. Seven Periodontics residents from the 2022 cohort earned places in the top three, four, and five national rankings in the National Competency Examination for Periodontics Specialists, held in June 2025. The official announcement was released by the Indonesian Periodontics Collegium on 24 June 2025 through letter No. 011/01.EU/Kol.Perio/VI/2025.
The examination, conducted on 20 June 2025 at the Dental Learning Center, Faculty of Dentistry UGM, was attended by ten UGM Periodontics Specialist Program residents. It consisted of two formats: a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), with assessments carried out independently by examiners from the Collegium and external evaluators.
In the results, four UGM residents achieved 3rd place nationally drg. Catra Reizena Werdiningsih, drg. Christopher Ernesto Budi, drg. Noorasyilla Galuh Paramesti, drg. Noormaya Sari. Meanwhile, 4th place nationally was secured by drg. Siti Rahmah Zainal, and 5th place nationally went to drg. Anggy Natya Listyaningrum and drg. Darna.
This outstanding achievement positioned UGM’s Faculty of Dentistry among the institutions with the highest number of top scorers nationwide, alongside other leading universities such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Hasanuddin, and Universitas Airlangga.
Head of the UGM Periodontics Specialist Program, drg. Kwartarini Murdiastuti, Sp.Perio(K)., Subsp. R.P.I.D., Ph.D., expressed her appreciation for the residents’ accomplishments. “This achievement reflects our commitment to maintaining high educational standards and ensuring our graduates possess strong competencies as Periodontics Specialists,” she stated.
She emphasized that this success is the result of a comprehensive educational process that includes coursework, clinical practice, and intensive research. She also noted that the achievement reflects an integrated learning system supported by dedicated lecturers and staff at FKG UGM.
Beyond academic success, this accomplishment serves as proof that UGM continues to produce dental specialists who are professional, humanistic, and highly competitive. Graduates are expected to make significant contributions to improving the quality of dental and oral health services in Indonesia.
