UGM Dentistry Residents Achieve Excellence in the 2025 National Orthodontics CBT Examination

The National Orthodontics Specialist Competency Examination, held on 12 July 2025 at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, served as a platform to showcase the academic quality of orthodontics residents from institutions across Indonesia. In the Computer-Based Test (CBT) category, two residents from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, earned national recognition. drg. Ahmad Fadli Fajrian secured 2nd place, while drg. Titi Nur Khikmawati achieved 5th place.

The CBT is a core component of the competency examination, designed to evaluate theoretical understanding, evidence-based clinical reasoning, and systematic, rational decision-making skills. With a series of high-level questions covering the full spectrum of orthodontic science—from diagnosis to complex treatment planning—the exam demands precision, critical thinking, and depth of analysis from each participant.

The achievements of these two UGM residents reflect the strength of the academic foundation built through a specialist curriculum that emphasizes case-based learning, continuous evaluation, and integration of the latest scientific literature into the teaching and learning process. Success in the CBT demonstrates not only mastery of theory but also intellectual readiness to address real-world clinical challenges.

This accomplishment further strengthens FKG UGM’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by delivering high-quality, adaptive, and nationally competitive specialist education. It also highlights the faculty’s commitment to enhancing the academic competencies of dental specialists, ensuring that future orthodontic services are grounded in strong scientific knowledge, evidence-based decision-making, and patient safety.

The success reaffirms FKG UGM’s position as an institution that excels not only in technical and clinical aspects but also in academic and scientific excellence, with a continuing commitment to producing professional orthodontists prepared for the demands of modern healthcare.
