Residents of the Pediatric Dentistry Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), conducted an examination of anterior tooth alignment among children at TK ABA Al-Ishlah in Yogyakarta on 26 September 2024. The examination aimed to detect early signs of malocclusion in kindergarten students.
This initiative is part of efforts to promote early oral health care, particularly among children. “Early detection is crucial in preventing more serious dental issues in the future,” said drg. Arif Rahman Setyawan, a representative from the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at FKG UGM.
During the examination, residents assessed children's tooth alignment to identify potential malocclusion problems. Parents were also educated on the importance of maintaining their children's dental health and preventive measures that can be taken at home.
“We not only examined the children’s teeth but also provided insights to parents, helping them understand the importance of oral hygiene and regular check-ups,” added drg. Arif Rahman Setyawan.
This initiative was well received by parents, who appreciated the information and support provided by the FKG UGM resident team. One parent expressed gratitude for the attention and education given by the team.
The collaboration between FKG UGM and TK ABA Al-Ishlah highlights the importance of synergy between educational and healthcare institutions in supporting children's well-being.
