National Working Meeting of the Indonesian Association of Conservative Dentistry and the Indonesian College of Conservative Dentistry: Strengthening Collaboration to Improve Specialist Dental Education Quality

The National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Central Board of the Indonesian Association of Conservative Dentistry (IKGI) and the Indonesian College of Conservative Dentistry took place on Friday, 11 October 2024, at Gran Senyiur, Balikpapan. The event was attended by all central board members of IKGI and members of the Indonesian College of Conservative Dentistry, including representatives from various faculties of dentistry across Indonesia. Three prominent lecturers from the Department of Conservative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), also participated in this important event: Prof. drg. Diatri Nari Ratih, M.Kes, Ph.D, Sp.KG.(K); Dr. drg. Tunjung Nugraheni, M.Kes., Sp.KG.(K); and Dr. drg. Wignyo Hadriyanto, M.S., Sp.KG (K).

This national meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration among IKGI members and the Indonesian College of Conservative Dentistry in enhancing the quality of education, services, and research in the field of conservative dentistry. Additionally, the event served as a platform to update work programs and develop concrete strategies to address challenges and opportunities in Indonesia’s Specialist Conservative Dentistry programs. The meeting also included discussions on research development, faculty competency improvement, and innovations in conservative dental care that can be implemented in various dental healthcare facilities nationwide.

Through this initiative, the quality of conservative dentistry programs in Indonesia is expected to improve, producing graduates who can compete on an international level. The success of this event reaffirmed the commitment of IKGI and the Indonesian College of Conservative Dentistry to advancing the profession of conservative dentistry in Indonesia by prioritizing quality education, services, and sustainable research.

This event supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by enhancing the quality of conservative dental services and Goal 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening specialist dental education through close institutional collaboration.
