The Prosthodontics Study Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), successfully held a social service event titled “Social Service for Dental Health Consultation and Free Prosthetics” in Padukuhan Kragilan, Mlati, Sleman, on 4 August 2024. This initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of oral health and provide access to quality dental care for those in need.
“We are very pleased to make a tangible contribution to the community through this social service activity,” said Dr. Mohammad Fadyl Yunizar, M.PH., Ph.D., a representative from the Prosthodontics Study Program. “We hope this event can enhance the quality of life for the people of Kragilan, especially for those experiencing dental issues.”
The event was made possible through collaboration among various parties, including alumni of the UGM Prosthodontics program, the Yogyakarta Prosthodontics Association, lecturers from the UGM Prosthodontics Department, and students from the UGM Prosthodontics Professional Development Program.
This social service activity received a positive response from the Kragilan community. Mr. Agus, a representative from Dukuh Kragilan, expressed appreciation for the event. “We hope this event runs smoothly until the installation of dentures next month, and we wish for more events like this to occur frequently as they provide significant benefits to the community,” said Agus.
During the event, the community received free dental health services, including consultations with dentists, dental examinations, and the fabrication of dental prosthetics. Additionally, education was provided on maintaining good oral health.
On this occasion, six patients were able to undergo direct impressions for denture fabrication, while others were referred for pre-prosthodontic treatment, including tooth extractions, followed by impressions and the creation of dentures.
