On 1 September 2024, the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada announced Prof. drg. Sri Kuswandari Kuswandari, MS, Sp.KGA(K-KKA), Ph.D as a Professor in the field of Pediatric Craniofacial Complex Science. This highest recognition is a testament to her extraordinary contributions over decades in academia, research, and community service.
“Being appointed as a professor is a significant responsibility to continue innovating for the oral health of children. I believe that through collaboration with various parties, we can create real change in managing pediatric craniofacial conditions,” said Prof. Sri Kuswandari.
Prof. Sri Kuswandari earned her degree in dentistry (drg) in 1987. She then pursued a Master's degree in 1993, and after obtaining her master's, she specialized in Pediatric Dentistry (Sp.KGA), graduating in 1998.
Not stopping there, as a lecturer and a doctor, she continued to deepen her knowledge in the field of dentistry. To make maximum contributions to education and healthcare services, she pursued her Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Oral Sciences, Pediatric Dentistry, Tokushima University, Japan, where she graduated in 2004.
Prof. Sri Kuswandari has shown dedication and expertise in her field—Pediatric Craniofacial Complex Science, a crucial area in dentistry that addresses the structure of the face and jaws in children. She has introduced various innovations in education and research. Her scientific works and innovative research have been published in prestigious journals. One of her articles, titled “The mesiodistal crown diameters of primary dentition in Indonesian Javanese children,” has been cited 58 times.
As one of the experts in pediatric dentistry, Prof. Sri Kuswandari is frequently invited to speak at various national and international seminars and hands-onactivities. In addition to her academic achievements, she is actively involved in professional organizations, such as being a member of the Indonesian Pediatric Dentistry Association (IDGAI) DIY-Jateng, serving in the Scientific Division.
With the title of Professor now officially conferred upon her, Prof. drg. Sri Kuswandari is expected to continue inspiring the younger generation, enhance international research collaboration, and bring new breakthroughs in the management of complex pediatric craniofacial issues.
