Periodontics Program Welcomes New Students of 2024

The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) held a welcoming event for the new cohort of periodontics specialty students on Friday, 26 July 2024. The event marked a transition between the incoming students and the recent graduates.

In his welcoming address, Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., extended a warm welcome to all the new residents. He encouraged them to study with enthusiasm, achieve their best, and enjoy their time at FKG UGM. Echoing the Dean’s sentiments, Dr. drg. Julita Hendrartini, M. Kes., AAK, Director of RSGM UGM, along with Prof. Soedomo, advised the residents to uphold the reputation and ethics of the profession wherever they serve.

The welcoming event also served as a farewell for the 2021 cohort who have completed their specialist training. One representative, Captain Ckm drg. Gusti Ngurah Komang Agus Wirajaya Sp.Perio., shared a message with the new students, encouraging them to maintain strong connections and a sense of camaraderie.

The periodontics program at FKG UGM continues to show positive growth. “In the 2024 cohort, we have 8 new students, consisting of 4 women and 4 men. This indicates the program's popularity among aspiring specialist dentists,” stated the head of the periodontics program, drg. Rezmelia Sari, M.Sc., Sp.Perio(K).

The warm and friendly atmosphere of the event, held at the Westlake Hotel in Yogyakarta, facilitated interactions among the new students. With renewed enthusiasm and strong support, it is hoped that the 2024 residents will actively contribute to the advancement of FKG UGM.
