A resident from the Specialist Program in Conservative Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has achieved remarkable success at the prestigious Dental Science Exhibition, Meeting, and Research (DSEMAR) 2024. The event, organized by the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Muhammadiyah Semarang (FKG UNIMUS), took place at Gets Hotel, Semarang, from 30 November to 1 December 2024. With the theme "Transformative Approaches in Dental", the event served as a platform for competition and innovation among participants from various dental education institutions across Indonesia.
In the competition, drg. Silva Eliana won the Best Paper Original Research award for her innovative research, which made a significant contribution to the advancement of conservative dentistry. Her work was not only highly regarded by the panel of judges but also became a highlight of the presentation session. Meanwhile, drg. Lira Wiet Jayanti received the Most Groundbreaking Case Report award for her revolutionary approach to handling complex dental cases. Her case report was recognized as a key contribution to the development of clinical methods in conservative dentistry.
This achievement is a testament to the commitment and quality of education in the Specialist Program in Conservative Dentistry at UGM. Beyond bringing pride to the university, these awards also inspire other residents to continue innovating and competing at both the national and international levels.
UGM’s participation in DSEMAR 2024 reflects its active role in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by enhancing the quality of dental healthcare services; and SDG 4: Quality Education, by providing high-quality, research-based education.
