Periodontics Program at FKG UGM Shares Results of Learning Evaluation for Even Semester 2023/2024

Tuesday (3/12/2024) – The Semester Coordination Team of the Periodontics Study Program, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) has successfully completed the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) process for learning activities during the Even Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year. This evaluation aimed to gather student feedback on the teaching and practical sessions conducted throughout the semester.

The evaluation was conducted through an online survey in which students rated various aspects of their learning experience using a five-point scale: strongly agree, agree, somewhat disagree, disagree, and don't know. Below is a summary of the evaluation results and student feedback.

All students provided positive feedback, with the majority selecting "strongly agree" and "agree" for several key aspects, including the effectiveness of learning activities, the availability of adequate facilities, opportunities for active participation, and transparency in the assessment system

Students also highly rated the alignment of course materials with the expected learning outcomes and the adherence to the planned class schedule.

All students agreed or strongly agreed that the learning media were easy to understand and that the course content was relevant to the expected learning outcomes, indicating a high level of satisfaction with the teaching methods.

While the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, students also provided constructive suggestions for enhancing the learning and practical experience. These included increasing the variety of learning activities, improving class scheduling for better time management, upgrading study program facilities, and enhancing support for academic writing through better mentorship.

These results have been reviewed by the Head of the Periodontics Specialist Study Program at FKG UGM, drg. Kwartarini Murdiastuti, Sp.Perio., SubSp.R.P.I.D (K), Ph.D., who expressed hope that the feedback would serve as valuable input for future improvements.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, this evaluation process highlights the importance of continuous improvement in education practices. By actively seeking student feedback, FKG UGM reinforces its commitment to creating an inclusive and effective learning environment.

These findings will not only guide the faculty in enhancing education quality but also ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and responsive to student needs and developments in the field of dentistry. Integrating student input into future planning will contribute to a more sustainable educational framework.

As the academic year progresses, FKG UGM remains dedicated to implementing these improvements, ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for successful careers. The faculty’s proactive approach to monitoring and evaluation reflects its commitment to educational excellence and sustainability.
